⁠𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆: Newly renovated, the Birnam Wood Golf Club is a full-service golf club delivering premier dining, tennis, fitness and social programs in the elegant setting of Montecito, California. The club was designed to honor its roots as a historic lemon packing house to one of California's largest lemon ranches, while delivering enlivened spaces with multi-generational appeal. In revisioning the interiors of the clubhouse, BraytonHughes Design Studios acknowledged the history of the packing house and allowed the historic building's cut stone exterior and curved arches to inform the design. The clubhouse entry, living room and event spaces, women's and men's locker rooms, boardroom/library feature a neutral color palette and locally inspired materials that speak to the history of the site. Couristan's woven Axminster program was utilized to create carpets that were developed with a residential approach, inspired by vintage area rugs with organic linework that lend a hand-crafted feel to the clubhouse's aesthetic.⁠

With heavy hearts we share with you the sudden passing of our mentor, friend, and President/Chief Executive Officer of Couristan Ronald Jacob Couri. ⁠
⁠
He is survived by his sons Evan Brett Couri and Ronald George Couri, his daughter Cristina Couri Salit, her husband Eric Stephen Salit, and his grandchildren Elle Harper Salit and Star Grey Salit. ⁠
⁠
Born on October 8, 1952, in Brooklyn, New York, to George Jacob Couri and Eleanor Veronica Shehab, Ron grew up in Dyker Heights with his three brothers George, Robert, and Steven. He attended Poly Prep Country Day School, class of 1970, and continued his education at Villanova and Temple Universities earning a business degree in 1974. ⁠
⁠
Ron served Couristan for over 50 years. He implemented strict “No Child Labor” policies, structured licensing agreements with renowned brands, and was a pioneer of indoor/outdoor area rugs. An avid fan of the arts, the soundtrack to his life was the Grateful Dead. He was a former board member of the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, NJ, known for his long-time generous support. A world traveler, he loved his children and grandchildren intensely and wanted to show them the world.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆: Since 1886, the Hotel Monteleone has proudly stood as one of the finest landmarks in the famous French Quarter. The hotel is the Quarter's largest full-service hotel, featuring 600 comfortable, luxurious guestrooms and suites. It's within walking-distance of some of New Orleans most famous attractions. A consecutive AAA Four Diamond award-winner, and winner of the J.D. Power and Associates Upscale Hotel Award for "An Outstanding Guest Experience", Hotel Monteleone is recognized as one of the last great family-owned-and-operated hotels in New Orleans. Aimed at giving this grand old hotel a fresh new look, Couristan teamed up with designers Katie Collins and Martha Sweezey of Collins & Sweezey to create woven Axminster carpets for the Monteleone's Iberville Ballroom, Guest Corridors and Guest Suites, while 100% solution dyed nylon machine-tufted carpet graced the hotel's Guestrooms.⁠
