Tucked away between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, in Aventura, Florida, the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa is a tropical oasis with culture of authenticity, spirited service and enriching experiences. Featuring 685 guestrooms, 40 event rooms with over 120,000 square feet of dedicated event space, this tropical paradise has been voted as South Florida’s number one resort by Condé Nast Traveler for the past three years. Principal, Courtney Brannan of Champalimaud Design based in New York City teamed with Couristan designers to create and manufacture over 20,000 square yards of woven Axminster carpeting which was installed in the Corridors, Pre-Function, Transition areas, Garden Room, Ballroom, Junior Ballroom and Meeting Rooms of the resort. The design task was to capture the true identity of the JW Marriott aesthetic, which celebrates elegance and a strong sense of place, while boasting a modern residential design within the carpet’s overall appearance. A subtle ivory color palette was utilized to evoke a relaxing spa experience that mirrored the airiness of natural beauty that exists in the surrounding South Florida area. Hints of blue and brown accents, which are also ubiquitous throughout the resort, reference the natural surroundings of the property. The end-result, beautiful artworks for the floor that emulated relaxing South Floridian patterns and textures.
